Artist's Statement

Washington State has been my life long home.  From being raised on a farm in Vancouver, graduating from the University of Washington, and residing in Kitsap County my entire adult life, the regions ambiance, colors and inhabitants are the primary inspiration for my creative expressions.  My work is also inspired by the traveling that I do with my husband. Trips around the world have heightened my appreciation for climate, vegetation and creatures of different locales; there is a challenge in the study of textures, colors and light that varies considerably in other regions.  All of the works I create are composed of moods, contrasts and feelings.  Many of my works are images of waterfowl, animals and natural scenes that express how greatly I respect the environment that surrounds me.

I'm identified as a high energy person who finds appreciation in rewarding work.  I have been fortunate in my career to have my work shown and receive recognition throughout Western Washington.  Watercolors, acrylics, pastels and oils are mediums which I have used to create works of art ranging from corporate imagery to printed materials and from murals and theatrical set designs to intimate portraits. 

Now retired, I continue to participate in numerous art education opportunities, artistic organizations and creative activities.  I have recently become a member of the Silverdale Fine Arts gallery.  The gallery provides of wonderful opportunity for local artists to display their self expressive works.
