Detachment X-Ray (c) 2001
This is my first try at fiction. It has been a very hard job but I have enjoyed 95% of it. The other five per-cent came in because of stupid mistakes on the computer. I lost 14 pages of the first chapter while editing. Then I had to reconstruct it to the best of my knowledge. I copied the reconstruction and was planning to put it on a disk. I found a disk which I had made before starting to reconstruct. That was about three days of work. It is worth it though because I written a sequel Covert Avengers 2002(c), and have started on the third book of the series.

My readers are from a diverse group with my wife as the toughest critic. The other readers are retired military, retired civil service, a young husband and wife from the local work force, a MD, and a MD PhD. All these people are professionals or retired professionals in their own right. They have no interest in the book, and I have told them that they have to buy their own copy; therefore I am branded as a cheap self professed writer.
And they are still buying their own books. Covert Avengers has grabbed their wallets.

Detachment X-Ray (c) 2001
The story line opens during the early days of the Korean War. Jake Green, a sailor, is caught in an unforeseen situation and is ordered to stay with a Marine front line battalion as a shore fire control spotter. During a training exercise Green's ship had been ordered to proceed on another mission with no time for personnel transfer.
This situation led to an advance in which the Marine Battalion became surrounded and eventually captured. During the march north with the North Korean guards, Green and four Marines escaped and under the command of Captain John Silvers made their way back to the friendly front lines. It took them over a month with the North Koreans chasing and a steady blizzard conditions for many of their days. After returning to the United Nations forces, Green and the Marines were sent to the United States Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan. They were separated and eventually transferred back to their units. Green found a story that he had been transferred to a Flag Staff and placed on a football team. When he questioned this situation he was immediately transferred to a unit to train escape and evasion techniques.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The story picks up when Green reaches the training command in Virginia. The training was very intense and soon the trainees became to dangerous for the instructors to tackle. The emphasis of the training turned from escape and invasion to a more dangerous profession. The unit were broken into three separate teams and they became very successful in assassination missions. They operated out of the South Atlantic for almost a decade--sometimes they went after government forces--other times they would be after rebels. Detachment X-Ray also took care of crime families, drug cartels, etc.
Detachment X-Ray was ordered back to the states and found they were approaching the Florida Keys under a task force which had been ordered to extinguish the detachment, but the detachment was successful in returning to the Keys and were immediately sent out to assassinate a well known Mayor of a large city and an African President for Life. When they completed the mission they made their way into the mountains of the northwest and took on other assignments. Green led a team which had been ordered to assassinate an island dictator. The older members were offered a chance to leave Detachment X-Ray.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ COVERT AVENGERS (c) 2002 The story continues, a sequel:
Jake Green became an assistant to a United States Senator and during the work came across a Chinese official who was recognized as a nemesis from the Korean War. In a completely unrelated happening the Korean comrades were reunited and decided to kill their old enemy.
